Unit 5 turnaround, Wednesday. 42 on site counting the crane operator, signal person and supervision, day shift 6 to 4:30. Crane: Acme Crane's 300-ton crawler set the E-501 heat exchanger bundle on the Unit 5 structure. Pick weighed 38,000 lbs, 72 ft radius, lift plan LP-0212 reviewed at the 6:15 pre-lift meeting. Bundle was set and landed at 1:40. Delay: the pick was planned for 9:00 but the hot work permit for the area wasn't issued until 11:30 — operations was waiting on gas testing. Crane and the 6-man rigging crew were on standby 2.5 hours, 9:00 to 11:30. Extra work: J. Ortiz from Acme Energy operations asked us to add two temporary pipe supports at rack 4, not on the IFC drawings. 4 pipefitters, 3 hours. Tracked on T&M ticket 0417, signed by Ortiz. Pipefitters, 18 from Acme Mechanical, made up 8 welds on the 6-inch steam line, rack 3. Insulators, 6, on the E-502 shell. Scaffold crew, 8, built the access platform at E-503. Delivery: 40 spools of 6-inch pipe from Acme Pipe Supply, good condition. Toolbox talk on dropped objects with all 42. One near miss — a wrench left on the rack 3 handrail, removed and reported. No injuries. Weather clear, around 78. Tomorrow: hydro test the steam line, start E-503 tube pull.
